ZSEA Pledge

Conservation is what drives ZSEA but at the very heart of what they do is bringing people and animals closer together.  Successful conservation is very much about involving and working with local communities and this is as relevant for us in the communities of East Anglia as it is in the communities in other countries where we work. Our zoos are incredible places where we can promote the connections between nature and well-being and support positive changes in people’s lives and within our local communities.

Animals really bring the best out of people so where better to build on that natural bond than in the safe and glorious environment of our ZSEA zoos. These “havens” can be ideal places for many different groups to come together for renewed purpose or friendship. It is vital to remember that nature should be for all and our ambition is very much that our zoos become the most accessible and inclusive of visitor destinations in the UK.

We believe that ZSEA zoos should be at the very heart of the local communities. They should be fully accessible and inclusive to all, promoting a safe and joyous environment that encourages health and well-being and social benefits. ZSEA’s Community Strategy will reach beyond the boundaries of the zoos right into the community.
